Italy – Venice – Rio de S. Pantalon
I really love strolling around the smale alleyway in Venice and get inspired by the colors, structure, buildings, shapes, excellent Italian food ... and .... dolce far niente (the sweetness of doing nothing).
Enjoy the Rio de S. Pantalon view.

Gerry

Can you feel the heat of the lava emission ...

Italy – Sassi di Matera #3
All the various houses or even cave houses create a very special structure and mood. I really love this place - it is so rich in details.
Enjoy the complexity of Matera

Italy – Venice – Burano – Watercolors #1
Burano, the most colorful place on earth. Maybe it's a little bit to optimistic but this place is amazing. So, if you are in Venice, take a Vaporetti and go to the nearby island Burano. This time I was lucky having a blue-foggy sky that worked like a giant softbox. Enjoy the watercolors.

Italy – Stromboli – Eruption Paint
Well, I liked the various shades of red, orange and yellow that's why I "over"-painted a photograph.
Enjoy the color and dynamic.

Italy – Stromboli – Culmination Point
Being at the top of the Stromboli and having the chance to live to see the wonderful culmination.
Enjoy the moment.

Italy – little Stromboli Lighthouse Island

The little Stromboli lighthouse island is only a jump away from the "mother" island.

Italy – Stromboli – Artistic Eruption

Shutter speed matters! I captured this short but powerful eruption with a 0.8sec shutter speed.
Enjoy the artistic Stromboli eruption.

Italy – Stromboli – Volcanic Eruptions #1

Spending the whole night at the top of the active volcano Stromboli is really exciting. The big caldera at the right side erupts more or less regularly but you have to be ready to push the shutter when the big, massive explosion takes place.
By the way, the volcano is located at the Italian island Stromboli, just north of Sicily in the Mediterranean Sea.
Enjoy the power

Italy – Sassi di Matera – Delicate Morning Light

Being in the middle of this marvelous place and having the unique opportunity to photograph this beautiful scenery is a really a godsend. It was a silent and peaceful moment when I pushed my shutter six times.
Enjoy the delicate morning light ....

Gerry
Italy – Sassi die Matera @ Sunrise

Matera has gained international fame for its ancient town, the "Sassi die Matera". I saw Sassi di Matera featured on the internet because of the Mel Gibson film "The Passion of Christ". If you are just there in the middle of this wonderful place - you can feel the biblical epoch. Right up until the 1960s people used to live in the caves! Well, a couple of days ago I did the location research ... and now I was there
Enjoy the first morning light that kisses this mystical place.

Gerry
